Kalemaki, Garefi, Protopsaltis (2021). Assessing the Impact of Social Innovation Education on Student’s Engagement.  European Journal of Sustainable Development(2021), 10,1,389-400

This paper presents the findings of the H2020 NEMESIS project that aims to design, test and validate a consolidated approach for embedding Social Innovation in Education. Social Innovation Education (SIE) is a new educational approach that aims to empower students to take action for a more democratic and sustainable society.

Garefi, Kalemaki, Schorer, Protopsaltis (2020). Social Innovation Education and Social Innovation Skill Development. International Conference of Education, Research and Innovation

Social Innovation Education (SIE) is a new educational concept that is different from Entrepreneurship Education (EE), Citizenship Education (CE) and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). SIE is a collaborative and collective learning process for the empowerment and socio/political activation of students to drive positive change no matter their professional pathways. SIE builds students’ competences to identify opportunities for social value creation, to form collaborations and build relationships and take innovative action for a more democratic and sustainable society.

Kalemaki, Garefi, Kantsiou, Diego, Protopsaltis & Wall. (2019). Towards a learning framework for social innovation education. 7th EMES International Research Conference on Social Enterprise. Sheffield Hallam University, United Kingdom.

This article is one of the selected conference papers of the 7EMES International Research Conference on Social Enterprise held in Sheffield on 24 – 27 June 2019. This paper presents the first attempts of the NEMESIS project to design a non-prescriptive learning framework for embedding social innovation in education. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to discuss how SIE is conceptualised; its underlying educational philosophy; the principles informing its design; and how it differentiates from other contemporary educational approaches.
