description

The students of 1st Experimental Primary School of Thessaloniki took action! In the context of the project “Learning experience with persons with visual impairment,” a children group of fifth grade decided to create a stop motion movie, in order to emphasize the daily difficulties of people with visual impairment, sensitize the local society and challenge the adequate departments of the city.

Also, students in sixth grade decided to get interviews from people with visual impairment, living in our neighbourhood in order to find out the special needs of these people. This information indicates children what they have to do in order to help these people. Therefore the two student groups organized a visit to “School of blind people”.

The children posed their questions concerning the teaching methods, the Braille method, the special technical equipment and the daily transportation difficulties. Also, children got interviews from teachers and collected the necessary material. The visit to “School of blind people” took place in a friendly and cozy atmosphere. Students were given a book written in Braille as a gift for visiting. It was a unique experience for all of us, students and teachers.
